Location: EFFINGHAM - Reports To: Livestock Production Manager 

Base Pay Range : $3000 - $4200 per month (Incentive per established scale)

Education/Experience Requirements

B.S. Degree in Ag Business with knowledge of Animal Science preferred. Experience with hog production from wean pig through marketing required.

Job Requirements:

Communication Skills: Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers or members of the business community. Ability to make effective written or verbal presentations to management, employees, and customers.

Reasoning Skills: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions dealing with several abstract and concrete variables.

Other Skills: P.C. skills should include Microsoft Excel and Word. Must have a valid drivers license. Achieve and maintain Certified Livestock Manager Training with the Illinois Department of Ag at the 1,000 AU level. Achieve and maintain PQA Plus certification with the National Pork Board. Ability to understand legal documents between Effingham Equity and Contract Growers. Ability to gain a thorough working knowledge of our company software and computer system. Ability to understand the company's stock/patronage structure.

Working Conditions: Nature of job/business requires extended hours. Must be willing to work inside hog buildings. Follow all established biosecurity protocols for entering swine units. Follow all established personnel, safety policies/procedures.

Job Responsibilities:
•  Be able to explain the company's stock/patronage structure to customers.
•  Utilize the company's core software and follow standard operating procedures associated with it.
•  Develop and maintain protocols of swine management and recordkeeping for growers to follow.
•  Be able to understand and follow company policies on risk management of feed and live hogs (Crush).
•  Maintain contract with wean pig supplier to ensure supply of healthy wean pigs.
•  Support sales of feed products and services to customers and prospects.

Production Oversight
•  Maintain grower relationships and adherence to company protocols.
•  Visit nursery, finisher, and wean-finish sites every 1-2 weeks and provide established reports on status of pigs.
•  Coordinate marketing functions and animal movements with logistics coordinator of market hogs, wean pigs, or feeder pigs.
•  Information flow between all parties verbally and written.

Producer Contracts and Audits
•  Maintain contracts between growers and Effingham Equity.
•  Maintain database of producer requirements with regard to Certificate of Insurance, CNMP maintenance, Permits, PQA Plus certification, Site Assessments, Renewals and Expiration of Contracts.

Growth and New Barn Development
•  Develop strategies for acquiring existing or new barns to achieve 250,000 market hogs annually in Investment Service Program.
•  Evaluate and research farrow to finish opportunities versus buying wean pigs.
•  Other duties as assigned.

Base Pay Range: $3170/mo--$3750/mo ( Incentives per established scale) 

Education/Experience Requirements :

A high school diploma or Associates Degree in Agriculture or a related field is preferred for the sales trainee position. The applicant must also have a good driving record and have or be able to obtain and maintain an Illinois class A commercial driver's license. An agricultural background with exposure to agri-business involving agronomy and the marketing of crop production inputs is desired.

Job Requirements :

Communication Skills: Applicants must be able to read, analyze and interpret common data and respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers. In addition they must also have the ability to make effective written or verbal presentations to employees and customers.

5. Maintain a thorough knowledge of our product line and competition as well as keeping current with changes.
6. Continue to seek on-going training and educational opportunities as directed by Branch Manager.

6. Complete all daily office work in a timely and accurate manner including but not exclusive of bank deposit and filing.
7. Communicate and work closely with accounting staff and seed logistics coordinator. Entering seed orders on-line and into company system; receiving in seed shipments; coordinating shipments to customers; tracking availability, seed transfers, substitutions, replants and returns; coordinating, tracking and reporting inventory issues.

A.S. Degree in Agriculture preferred. Agricultural background with exposure to Agri-business involving Ag Supplies, Crop Inputs, Feed, Grain, Petroleum.

Job Requirements:

Communication Skills : Ability to read, analyze and interpret common data. Ability to respond to common inquiries from customers. Ability to effectively communicate with customers, employees and management.

 Technical Skills: CDL and spray operators license.

Personal Skills: Applicant should possess a self motivating personality as well as team-building skills.

Working Conditions: While performing the duties of the job, the employee regularly works long hours in outdoor conditions. The employee will usually work around moving mechanical equipment and occasionally work in high, precarious places. Physical demands include regular use of hand to finger, handle or feel objects, and talk and hear. Employee must be capable of frequent lifting objects up to 50 pounds and follow all established personnel, safety policies/procedures.

1. Applies fertilizer/ag chemicals through custom application equipment in accurate and efficient manner.
2. Responsible for all operations in grain and ag chemical containment and fertilizer facilities including handling, mixing, record keeping, maintenance, cleanliness, and compliance with all state and federal regulations.
3. Blend, deliver, and unload fertilizer, ag chemicals, feed, and seed and merchandise as directed.
4. Responsible for daily maintenance of equipment and facilities.
5. Attend continuing education courses to maintain a quality level of knowledge for the products, regulations and customer relations.
6. Off-season - operate truck fleet (semi, feed, grain, petroleum trucks, etc) as directed by Branch Manager and Dispatcher or assist Effingham shop personnel as directed by Branch Manager and Plant Maintenance Manager.- or-
Off season - scout fields for weed and insect problems. Take soil samples, make field maps. Be able to communicate in a professional manner to the producer, salesmen and branch manager.
